Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a natural therapy and treatment philosophy developed in order to identify and treat restrictions in the musculoskeletal, visceral, vascular, and nervous systems of the body.  It was developed by Andrew Taylor Still, an American physician who experienced a revolution in his approach to healthcare in the late 1800’s.  Dissatisfied with what modern medicine had to offer at the time, Dr. Still developed a holistic approach to treatment that focused on the interrelated nature of all systems in the body.

The Body is an Integrated Unit of Mind, Body and Spirit

Form and Function are Interrelated

The Role of the Artery is Supreme

The Body Possesses Self-Regulatory Mechanisms that allow for Repair and Restoration

Manual Osteopathy is a patient-centered physical therapy that is safe and effective for all ages.  Using an in-depth knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and physiology, the practitioner is able to address root problems rather than focus on symptoms in order to alleviate pain and dysfunction.  All systems within the body are understood as being interrelated, and the Osteopathic approach seeks to harmonize them in order to foster health and overall wellness in the patient.  Manual Osteopathic practitioners are not  physicians nor do they practise medicine.
